Mitchell Waters:

Hi, I’m Mitchell Waters. American football has been a part of my life for over a decade, and it runs in the family. My father started a team back in the ’80s—the Southend Sabres—and when the team reformed, I knew I had to step up and follow in his footsteps. I took his old number and began my journey as a running back, a position I’ve proudly played for over 10 years.
During my time with the Sabres, I’ve been fortunate to help the team achieve an undefeated season and win a conference championship. Beyond playing, I’ve been deeply involved in growing the sport by helping develop the Sabres’ youth team, which has now evolved into the Tridents Youth Team. Coaching both youth and adult players for the Essex Tridents has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I look forward to continuing to support the next generation of athletes.
Although I’ve had to take a step back from playing due to a collarbone injury, I have every intention of getting back on the field once I’m fully healed. Football is my passion, and I’m excited for what’s to come.
Ellis Warner:

Hi, I’m Ellis Warner. My journey into American football began over six years ago when I discovered the sport at my local rugby club in Southend. Since then, I’ve been all in, even representing the Sealand Seahawks internationally. Those experiences gave me valuable insights that I’ve been able to bring back to coaching, helping guide the Sabres’ youth team, which has now evolved into the Essex Tridents Youth Team.
On the field, I play as a linebacker and have a passion for learning and applying defensive tactics. One of my proudest moments was helping my team go undefeated in 2019. Off the field, I dedicate my time to coaching the next generation of players, giving them opportunities to grow and excel, whether it’s earning a spot on the National Team or exploring their potential in both flag and contact football.
For me, it’s all about sharing the knowledge I’ve gained and helping others achieve their goals in this incredible sport.
